No doubt BB's is a favourite with locals, and I'm sure there are lots of yummy things here, however the sausage roll fell well below expectations. It tasted and looked just like a frozen packet sausage roll....definitely not worth $4.40 without sauce :(
Awesome little bakery that we stopped at whilst passing through, great tucker for a reasonable price.
Great country-style bakery with award-winning vanilla slice, cakes and pastries, meat pies and pasties, salad rolls, burgers and schnitzels, and of course fresh bread and bread rolls. Enjoy a coffee or tea as well in the adjoining cafe, but don't forget to take a number from the ticket machine before waiting to order!
Used to be awesome, now not so much. The sausage rolls were clearly mass-produced and bought in. I don't know about the other food, but seeing the sausage rolls made us feel like other things are probably bought in too, which is a turn off.
There's just no better place to be than Bourkies Bakehouse on a freezing cold, Woodend morning. I frequently drive to Woodend from the city for work and nothing excites me more than the thought of sitting in that bakery with a hot coffee and pie. Great place to go with a friend, good selection of pies and pastries and friendly staff. I must admit I haven't visited any other cafes or bakeries in Woodend, but this one has won my heart. It makes it worth the drive!
